THE AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE OF FEATURE FILM DRIFT IN WA’S SOUTH WEST
On Thursday March 21, a 50m red carpet was rolled out for the Australian Premiere of the surfing feature film DRIFT. 1300 invited guests attended the outdoor screening taking place at Caves House in Yallingup, the biggest premiere of its kind in Western Australian history. The premiere took the film back to its roots in WA’s South West where the film was made, taking place amongst the historic Caves House gardens with the movie projected onto a 12m inflatable outdoor screen.
Walking the red carpet was the cast of DRIFT including major cast Myles Pollard (Wolverine, McLeod’s Daughters), Xavier Samuel (Twilight Eclipse, A Few Best Men), and Aaron Glenane, co-directors Morgan O’Neill and Ben Nott and producers Tim Duffy, Myles Pollard and Michele Bennett.
The surfing community was well represented by many local identities and the world’s best in town for the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro including Jake Paterson and Yallingup local Taj Burrow. Ex world-champion surfer Martin Potter was MC for the night. Also attending were the WA crew who worked on the film, local dignitaries, investors, and over 400 local surfers, actors, extras and business owners from region who were part of the production.
DRIFT is inspired by the true story of Australia’s legendary surf communities and the rise of the global surf brands during the 60s and 70s, starring Myles Pollard, Sam Worthington and Xavier Samuel.
Set in breathtaking South West locations, and featuring adrenalin-pumping surf scenes, Drift inspiringly charts the transformation of surfing’s laidback lifestyle into a global phenomenon. It’s a story told through a personal tale of passion, courage, friendship and fractured loyalties.
DRIFT will open in Australian cinemas on May 2. Watch the trailer at
