FIRST REVIEWS ARE IN 'KILLING GROUND'
  AUGUST 18 2016

After our World Premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival Killing Ground's first reviews are in and damn has it had a flattering reception. I'm thrilled to be a part of Damien Power's thrilling concoction and I can't wait for it to be released nation wide in early 2017. Strap in!

"Glenane (the) less than predictable partner comes away with some of Killing Ground's most memorable scenes; among them a despicable game of William Tell featuring his character's recurring, frightening bark." "A clever, captivating Aussie shocker." – Falken Screen

"Damien Power's brutal bushland nerve-shredder Killing Ground can rightfully sit alongside such dark kindred spirits as Wolf Creek and The Long Weekend in the annals of Aussie genre infamy. Bolstered by revelatory star turns from Aaron Pedersen and Aaron Glenane as the latest ute-drivin', pig-shootin' incarnations of the Australian male's primal, predatory id, Power's skilfully crafted feature debut demands global exposure."

"German (Pederson, giving his all in a thrilling, against-type performance) and Chook (Glenane, arcing his 'simple man' archetype from dimwitted follower to coldblooded killer with an agonising intensity). The actors are superb in roles that recall David Argue's and Chris Haywood's moronic, murderous mates in Russell Mulcahy's Razorback, minus the tension-relieving buffonery." – Screen Space

"Aaron Glenane... plays the deranged Chook very, very well." – Heavy Mag

'KILLING GROUND' WORLD PREMIERE AT MIFF
  12 July, 2016

Damien Power's survival thriller Killing Ground is set to have its World Premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival with screenings on August 4th and 6th. I'm fortunate enough to have played the incredibly complex Chook alongside one of our country's greatest actors Aaron Pedersen (Goldstone) with the exceptional Harriet Dyer, Ian Meadows, Julian Garner, Maya Stange and Tiarnie Coupland. Its a highly suspenseful thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

Book tix here to the World Premiere: http://miff.com.au/program/film/killing-ground

A remote campsite. An abandoned tent. A romantic getaway to die for.

When young urbanites Ian and Sam decide to go camping, they arrive at their isolated destination to discover another tent already set up, but no sign of its owners. With the other campers at large, Ian and Sam's discovery of a child wandering alone sets off a terrifying chain of events that will push them to their limits – and beyond.

Inspired by Michael Haneke's Funny Games and Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs, writer/director Damien Power's gloriously tense and unsettling feature-film debut Killing Ground showcases a menacingly against-type Aaron Pedersen, in a low-budget survival thriller pulsing with high-stakes scares, piercing intensity and shocking violence that will make you think twice next time you dare to head beyond the bright lights of the city.

SEEING DOUBLE AT ST KILDA FILM FESTIVAL
  02 May, 2016

St Kilda Film Festival has just launched its 2016 program and two short films I was fortunate to have been a part of have been selected to have their World Premieres at this prestigious festival.
Firstly, OVERTIME, the story of office worker Ralph desperately trying to get home before the full moon rises and he turns into a werwolf, will screen as the Opening Film on Opening Night. With the likes of Odd Studio (2016 Oscar Winners for Mad Max: Fury Road) on board, you don't want to miss this horrifyingly hilarious dash home. Secondly, the satire surrounding the world of politics, as shown through the passionate Youth division that is YOUNG LABOR is ridiculously on point, especially with an upcoming election.
Get down there and enjoy some brilliant filmmaking talent.

FIRST REVIEW: "MOLLY"
  06 February, 2016

The first review for MOLLY is in. Have a read and see what you think!

"The bromance with Michael Gudinski (Aaron Glenane) is hilarious and typifies the larrikin streak through the whole production."
"Johnson morphs into Molly from the get-go. The similarity is uncanny, and not just visually, but never moves into parody. That was crucial for Molly to work. The same way Eric Bana channelled Chopper Read and had you instantly transfixed, Johnson's loving recreation of Molly anchors the entire mini-series. Which is lucky, because he's in virtually every single scene.
Johnson perfectly captures Meldrum's everyman quality, the one that continues to endear him to the nation.
They've shoehorned plenty in to the first instalment — they could have easily have made this a three-part series without padding. That's how you know you've got the right subject for a miniseries.
And while the first episode is all about the '70s, it begins, a little awkwardly, with his 2011 fall from the roof. The graphic thud as his head hits the floor will have people shuddering in loungerooms across Australia.
In its heyday, Countdown was seen by a remarkable three million people on a Sunday night. Split Enz (who pop up in the Countdown cafeteria) once sang about history never repeating. But don't be too surprised if Countdown, via Molly, hits those magical figures again, 40 years on."

MICHAEL GUDINSKI SERIES IN THE WORKS
  21 January, 2016

Who wants to see this?!
CHANNEL Seven boss Tim Worner has singled out music industry veteran Michael Gudinski as the latest subject of a real-life TV drama miniseries.
Speaking at the launch of the latest season of My Kitchen Rules, Worner said: "Michael, once we get Molly's story away we should do yours story because you are an icon of this industry."

Gudinski attended the event for Seven's upcoming drama, Molly, based on the life of Ian 'Molly' Meldrum.

Actor Aaron Glenane will portray Gudinski in the project that will air on Seven next month.

"Aaron has done a fantastic job speaking of idiosyncrasies although I think Michael has grown madder with the years and perhaps if you were to play him in 20 years or so it would be a more manic portrayal but a brilliant job Aaron," Worner said.

FIRST LOOK AT 'KILLING GROUND'
  21 January, 2016

Well here it is... your first look at Damien Power's debut feature KILLING GROUND starring Aaron Pedersen, Harriet Dyer, Ian Meadows and myself. Check out this great article below with our stills photographer John Platt (Mad Max: Fury Road) and hear his discussion on the type of equipment used on the shoot especially his Fujifilm X-T1 and the camera's silent shutter.
"The shots make Power's first feature look a cross between Wolf Creek and the Michael Fassbender-vs-delinquent-kids horror Eden Lake from 2008. In Killing Ground, a couple on a camping trip stumble into a frightening ordeal when they discover a tent abandoned in the middle of the bush."

Three journalists, Charles Bean, Ellis Ashmead Bartlett and Phillip Schuler, arrive at Gallipoli with the invading British and Allied troops in 1915. They will report the war but are prevented from getting out the true story of an unfolding disaster. From encampment in Cairo to Anzac Cove to the evacuation, this is the story of journalists who will not accept that truth be the first casualty. This is the story of the men who will not shut up. The actions of these men will help change the course of the campaign, ensure that a strategic disaster becomes a legend of human heroism, and leave an impregnable mark on each of their lives.
